Turning Back The Hands Of Time
WAIT a minute! Is this 1996? Sure feels that way. Starting Tuesday June 8th, me and the band will be playing every Tuesday night, through most of July at the newly renovated, recharged, yet still same 'ol Grape Street Pub, rechristened THE GRAPE ROOM. One of my all time fave clubs in Philly. I have a lot of history there. (Some of which I won't mention.)
We'll be playing mostly all new material from my soon to be released new disc, "SIMPLIFY." All consecutive weeks we'll feature some new friends, old friends and some bands we have yet to meet. We'll play one long set and...All Good as we used ta say.

If you want to come to the WXPN event, it's free but you have to RSVP. You can do that here.

10TH ANNIVERSARY GORGAS PARK MUSIC FESTIVAL!
Ten years ago Jim Boggia and I played a couple sets of music outside, in front of the Gorgas Park outhouse and office on a couple pieces of plywood in the rain. Ever since it has become a summer time tradition to get the kids out in the park, spread out the blankets, pop open a couple bottles and hear some great local music under the sun and the stars. Over the years, we've had guests Phil Roy, The Brakes, Amos Lee, 4 Way Street, Tom Gillam, The Lowlands, Scott Silipigni and more.
This year we're celebrating the long haul with a special extended festival style show featuring bluegrass from The Wissahickon Chicken Shack, trippy folk and roll from The Great Unknown, the lovely voice and songs of Adrien Reju, great local hip-hop from Kufi Knots and The Hustle,, the killer pop of Jim Boggia, my band will be playing a set and we always have some very special guests on hand. So, grab a cooler, a chair, a blanket and a friend and come on out! Just so ya know...the outhouse is still there but now we play under the swanky new Gazebo and, this show is FREE!!

Pistol for Ringo
This past July I was invited to join in on a band project out in sunny Los Angeles. What did I do? I got on a plane and went to sunny LA and recorded a record. Not my own music, bit different' ...really vibey smooth indie rock written by some friends... We're called PISTOL FOR RINGO. Don't ask. Listen, myspace.com/pistolforringo. So...we're gonna go 'n bang some of this stuff out live on the West Coast and see if it's got legs enough to get us to the East. And then Hawaii and then Japan. Okay...maybe not Japan but that'd be cool, right!?! I REALLY dig this record. I think you will too. A 4 song EP will be out on iTunes Oct 8th.
The Broken Bell
So nice to read the kind words in this blog post from The Broken Bell.

New Record to be released on October 30th!
I am very excited to announce that my newest band recording Nevermind My Blues will be released in Fall '07 on Ropadope Records! Ropeadope is a very socially conscious multi-platform indie music group distributed nationally by SONY/Red.
Also, the quiet, acoustic CD SOLO, which I released independently this year, is available for digital download via Ropeadope.
Link of the Week
After watching STAX Records documentary last week on PBS, I can't wait to get to visit Memphis and see what this institution has to offer. It's now a combination museum, performance space and school. Give 'em some dough . . . Pretty sure they won't blow it all this time around.
"Calico" "Calico" in the Movies
Y'know . . . it was released direct to disc this summer, but it's really not a BAD movie. Check out "MEMORY" starring Billy Zanes, Angelica Houston and Dennis Hopper along with my tune "Calico Kid" in a little scene near the middle . . . don't blink.
